 EVALUATION REMINDER:

Please be reminded that your administrator must ACTUALLY OBSERVE information that he or she references in your observation/evaluation.  Information in your evaluation cannot be hearsay and/or reported to the administrator by someone else.  There have already been reports of information that was shared in confidence being relayed to principals who then reference this information on the evaluation document.  This is illegal.

There must be an evaluation conference.  You must receive a copy of the document at that time.  Be sure to check the dates referenced on your evaluation to make sure that they are legitimate and not weekends or dates when you were not present.  The date on the last page of your evaluation should be the date that you received the evaluation.  Check that this date is correct. Remember, you have 10 school days to submit your rebuttal.

We strongly urge you to write a rebuttal if you disagree with comments or ratings on your evaluation. We also urge you to ask that any positive information that was omitted be included in your evaluation.  The EOEA will help you with your rebuttal. 

LEAVES OF ABSENCE:

If it becomes necessary for you to request a long term leave, please contact the EOEA to explore your options.

EXTRA COMPENSATION:

It has been reported that some principals are offering "comp time" instead of extra compensation for losing a lunch or prep period.  It is illegal to give teachers comp time when a negotiated agreement (contract) delineating specific pay for these items exists.

If your principal assigns you to work beyond the school day, do the assigned work so that you cannot be considered insubordinate, then contact the EOEA immediately.  We will pursue pay per the contract.

ELECTIONS:

Thank you for your participation in the recent election for delegates to the NEA Convention. Unfortunately, due to irregularities, ballots from Gibson, Glenwood, L'Ouverture, and Truth were disqualified by the Elections Committee.
