The HSSC survey results are still being processed by NJEA. The results will be shared with the EOEA membership as soon as we receive them from Trenton.
There have been reports of bedbugs from a few schools (Truth and Healy). This information has been forwarded to the Maintenance Supervisor and is being investigated. If any members suspect evidence of bed bugs they should immediately contact the administrator as well as the head custodian. The District has a remediation plan in place and it can only be implemented if someone reports the situation.
The roof at Cochran is under repair by the SDA. Hopefully this will take care of the leaks in rooms 202 and 203. An air sampling was taken to address the concern about asbestos.
At L’Ouverture School mice droppings were visible and teachers were directed to go to the store to purchase cleaning products to clean the droppings. Under no circumstances should teachers have to buy cleaning products and then clean vermin droppings. If any one is instructed to purchase cleaning products they should immediately contact the EOEA office.
The purpose shall be to advise the Superintendent on matters concerning the maintenance of proper standards of
health, safety, and security. The committee shall consist of four individuals appointed by the Association President and four individuals appointed by the Superintendent. The committee shall convene no fewer than five times during the year and will meet during working hours. “These people have the authority to create change,” said Greadington. “Association and district representatives partner-up and walk room by room through designated buildings with a checklist, identifying any health, safety or security issues.” It is then incumbent upon the district to address the issues discovered, she noted. At a subsequent meeting, timelines are established to address the issues discovered. Another walkthrough is scheduled to ensure that remedial work has been completed.
