The FAST Committee is working on the following activities, along with some of the district schools:
“Keepers of the Dream” Awards Dinner: This event will take place on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. at the Bloomfield Steak and Seafood House, Bloomfield, New Jersey. Please call the EOEA office if you are interested in attending. Our honorees this year will be: Assemblyman Thomas Giblin, Dr. Kenneth King and Deacon Everett Thurmond.
Savvy Sisters Book Club: The book club continues to grow and encourage literacy and beyond. Our book now is “Mudbound” by Hillary Jordan. This book is a portrait of two families caught up in the blind hatred of a small Southern town. Our next meeting will be at Glenwood on
Tuesday, February 28th at 4:45 p.m.
We continue to welcome parents and community members to join us as we endeavor to strengthen the community and our schools.
Teacher for a Day: This program was designed by NJEA to encourage the community and its leadership to engage in a “real-feel” activity that would allow others to see what it’s like on a daily basis in our schools and classrooms. It is our aim to have a day in May that we hope to deem as our Community Involvement Day. We have a couple of schools onboard and we would like to see others participate. We are prepared to assist you with a package that dictates how the program works and how to facilitate it from start to finish. If you are interested, please call the EOEA office.
Nets Game: Congratulations to all who attended Nets games! The season is shorter since it started late. If you would like your school on the list of participants, please call the EOEA office and we will get you the information necessary.
